I did not grow up a tech wizard so my IT journey began when I was about 18-19 years old. I worked under my father at an electrical company in Savannah, Ga. where my main role was to run cat5 and terminate RJ-45’s. It wasn’t glamorous but it got my foot in the door and embedded a deeper interest. This experience led me to pursue this career path when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2015.
I served 4 years and had a variety of IT jobs that ranged from Helpdesk Tech, Enterprise Directory Messaging (EDM) Liaison to finally an EDM Cyber Security Technician. After my time of active service was complete I took a job with a cabling/security company in Savannah, Ga called NetPlanner. To be truthful this position was the stepping stone that really kicked my interest into high-gear. After a year and half as a security technician who installed & configured Cameras, NVR’s and school security systems I decided to take a chance and began applying for my Cyber focused jobs.
In 2021 I was hired by DISA as an Application Support technician which sharpened my customer support skills and web-based troubleshooting like never before. The contract for that position happened to be tanked (in hindsight I couldn’t have been more happy although at the time it was mainly stress) because then I got hired on at the company that I am still currently with GDIT. I was originally hired on as a Helpdesk Technician and after grinding out over a period of 2 years I am now a Sr. Systems Administrator.
The IT field has grasped ahold of me and my thirst for knowledge and experience continues to increase. Which is why I created this website. I knew it would be a great experience and help me become an even more well rounded IT technician. If you have managed to read this all the way through I thank you for taking the time.
